5 Ways for Financial Planners to Use Social Media Effectively
This morning we presented our latest free webinar, this time on 5 ways for Financial Planners to use social media effectively.
Within this webinar, I talked about the importance of strategy before getting started with social media marketing.
Financial Planners have different marketing strategies, depending on the stage of their business and their priorities for client acquisition or retention.
Before getting started with social media, it’s essential for Financial Planners to set SMART goals, consider their target audience, and select social media platforms carefully.
I also talked about branding.
Whether you like it or not, you have a brand. It’s far better to be intentional about your brand than allow it to develop organically.
With social media a very visual medium, you need to carefully consider your logo, brand colours, typeface and the images you use.
We spoke about content and how to get attention when using social media; creating and sharing your content, or engaging with the content shared by others.
You should draw up an editorial calendar, create and share visual content, and repurpose your content according to the requirements of different platforms.
Consistency is essential when Financial Planners are using social media.
There’s no such thing as an overnight success, so be prepared to put in the work regularly.
One webinar viewer commented he had just this week won a client (a lottery winner!) via Facebook!
You can use automation to batch your social media activity, but posting directly into platforms is vital for engagement.
Finally, you should review your social media activity.
Reviewing allows you to check and adjust your progress, doing more of what’s working and less of what isn’t.
Leaving webinar viewers with some final thoughts, I explained that social media use has become ubiquitous in 2019.
It’s an increasingly noisy place, so you need to stand out from the crowd and find your unique voice to be heard.
You should also consider getting help from professionals like Bamford Media where needed, so you can focus your valuable time on client planning and servicing.
Our next webinar takes place at 11 am on Thursday 11th April, where I’ll be talking about Raising your Financial Planner Profile with Press and PR.
