It’s back to school time at Bamford Media
It’s September, and the kids are back at school.
After a six-week school summer holiday, juggling between family time and work time, it’s great to be back in the office as we enter the home stretch of 2019.
With that in mind, rather than my usual marketing-inspired blog post this week, I wanted to share an update from the world of Bamford Media – including some of our exciting plans for the future.
We started the summer with our first live event, the Financial Planner Marketing Summit.
This one-day conference took place on a beautiful summer day at The Electric Theatre in Guildford, attracting an audience of forward-thinking Financial Planners who heard from ten excellent speakers.
We’ve already booked the same venue for the 2020 edition of the Financial Planner Marketing Summit. Following feedback from the Summit this year, the event next year will include more practical content.
The start of June saw Kathryn Watts join the Bamford Media team.
Kathryn is an experienced PR, Marketing Communications and Brand Management specialist, working both in agency and in-house for global brands. She’s already leading several projects with our clients.
We don’t have any ambitions to become the biggest financial services marketing agency in the world. My plans for the business are informed by the work of Bo Burlingham in his book Small Giants, one of my favourite reads.
But some growth is essential, allowing us to reach the scale that will put us on this path to become a small giant.
To that end, we’ve agreed with our landlord to lease the rest of the ground floor at Trafalgar House, with space for another three desks.
This week, we welcomed James Spooner to the team. James comes from a video production background and will focus on audio and video production duties for our clients.
That production experience in the team will prove invaluable as we continue to produce audio podcasts for our clients. We’re publishing season 4 of the Chartered Insurance Insitute’s CII Radio currently, and last week released the first episode in a new podcast series for Shipleys LLP, a firm of Chartered Accountants.
Podcast production is one of our lead services at Bamford Media, but we’re also doing a lot of work around website development and related content management.
We currently have seven new websites in development, all due to be launched by the end of this year.
An important addition to our services as we head into the autumn is lead generation using paid social media advertising. We’re working closely with Lucy Boatswain, an experienced lead generation specialist, to introduce very effective Facebook advertising campaigns for our clients.
Our marketing strategy at Bamford Media includes the publication of a weekly blog post and hosting a live webinar each month.
We’re also adding videos to the mix, after investing in some shiny new toys. Our store cupboard now includes a Canon M50 camera, DJI Ronin SC Gimbal, and set of Rode Wireless Go Mics. These will allow us to create high-quality videos for our clients and in-house.
Last week, I had the pleasure of judging several categories for the Professional Adviser New Talent Awards. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the finalists at the awards ceremony in London later this month.
Other big plans planned for the coming months include series two of our podcast, the development of an online learning platform of Financial Planners, and writing my next book, all about content marketing for professional advisers.
In a nutshell, that’s our summer and plans for the coming months.
What were your highlights from Summer 2019, and what do you still aim to get done before the end of this year?
